How to Cleanse and Charge Your Crystal Bracelet
Simple, traditional ways to cleanse and set an intention with your gemstone bracelet — sage, moonlight, sound — and how to care for delicate stones.
Cleansing and charging are traditions people have kept with their stones for a long time. They are not medicine and they make no promise about your body — they are a small ritual of intention, a way of making a piece feel like yours before you wear it. Here is how it's traditionally done, and how to keep your bracelet looking its best.
Why every OJARA piece arrives already cleansed
Before it ships, each OJARA bracelet is cleared of the energy of everyone who handled it before you and set with intention — traditionally through sage smoke, sound, or a night of moonlight. It reaches you ready to wear. What follows is for keeping it that way over time.
Ways to cleanse your bracelet
- Sage or incense smoke. Pass the bracelet gently through the smoke a few times. This is the most common method and works for every stone.
- Moonlight. Leave it on a windowsill overnight, ideally on a full moon. Safe for delicate and light-sensitive stones because there's no heat or water.
- Sound. A singing bowl, a bell, or any sustained tone is a gentle, contact-free way to reset a piece.
Setting an intention (charging)
"Charging" simply means pairing the cleansed piece with a clear intention. Hold the bracelet, take a slow breath, and name what you're wearing it for — focus, calm, courage, protection. There's nothing mystical required; it's a moment of attention that turns an accessory into a daily reminder.
What to avoid
Crystals are more delicate than they look. A few habits protect them:
- Skip prolonged direct sunlight. Some stones, like amethyst and citrine, can fade over time in strong sun.
- Keep them away from harsh water and chemicals. Remove your bracelet before showering, swimming, or using cleaning products. Many stones are porous or soft, and the elastic cord dislikes repeated soaking.
- Store it flat. Coiled loosely in a pouch or on a dish, away from harder jewellery that can scratch it.
How often?
Whenever it feels right — after an intense day, before a fresh start, or on the new and full moon if you like to keep a rhythm. There's no rule. Cleanse when the piece feels like it's carrying more than you'd like it to.
Treated gently, a natural gemstone bracelet will stay with you for years — a quiet, wearable reminder of the intention you set with it.
